Rosacea
Rosacea is a facial skin condition that normally effects the centre of the face but can be located on the noise, cheeks, forehead and chin and in some occasions it can go down to the neck, chest and shoulders.
Rosacea presents it self in different stages, it can begin with red flushing, this can turn in to consent flushing. You can also developed visible blood vessels, thickened skin and spots. (sometimes this can be confused with acne but are actually two different skin conditions).
It is more common for woman to suffer with rosacea then men and quite often appears between the ages of 30s and 40s however some people have experienced this with in there 20’s.
The skin can feel very sensitive and hot to touch and quite often your find your skin reacting to most products, heat and even touch.
There are four types of Rosacea
Type One
Rrythematotelangiectatic - Redness and broken veins.
Type two
Papulopustular - Red bumps and whiteheads.
Type Three
Phymatous - Thicken skin.
Type Four
Ocular - effects the eye and eye lid area. The eye area feels very dry, gritty and unconformable.
What causes it?
There is no clinical answer for why someone develops rosacea however there are different types of triggers that can cause the rosacea to appear or get worse.
Triggers can be.
- Stress
- Alcohol
- Diet (spicy foods, dairy etc.)
- Sunlight
- Heat/cold temperatures
- Medication
- Exercise
- Caffeine
