Massage Therapy

During a massage you will enjoy a feeling of total indulgence. I believe it is essential for everyone to treat themselves to a little rest and relaxation once in a while. Massage will help to heal muscle aches, reduce tension and promote positive well-being, it can make you feel better physically, mentally and emotionally. I will use my hands, fingers, forearms and elbows to manipulate your soft tissue and muscles to create an experience specifically tailored to your needs. You will experience a calming environment with gentle music, essential oils, steam towels and an electric massage tool option to really get deep into your target areas.

Every massage is specifically tailored to your needs and will focus on your target areas. We will complete a pre-massage consultation to talk about your medical history, any aches and areas of focus as well as your preferences to music and scents to create a truly personal massage experience. Be assured that this isn’t a generic “routine” massage that is the same for every client. I will use a combination of techniques including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and Indian head massage to ensure you feel entirely indulged.

I welcome all genders and my fully electric, four-motion couch can be lowered and adjusted to support clients with limited mobility. I am happy to work with clients with medical conditions or disability – where safe to do so. I will always be honest and in some situations we may need to adapt or alter your treatment although this will be discussed during the consultation.

In Preparation for massage treatments, I suggest the following:

  • Do not come on a full stomach – avoid eating a large meal just before your appointment as this can cause discomfort specially if your massage involves laying on your stomach. However be sure to have eaten something light so you also don’t feel to weak or faint.
  • Avoid drinking massive amounts of liquid to avoid needing a wee during your relaxing treatment time. Be sure to have drunken a small amount of liquid to make sure you don’t feel weak or faint.
  • Bring old or baggy clothes to pop on after your treatment. This is because the massage oil used will leave an oily residue on the skin which can be absorbed in by your clothes.
  • Wear old pants, boxers or bras to your appointment. There is a high change of direct massage oil to come in contact with your underwear unless your treatment is an Indian head massage.
  • Remove any valuable or in the way jewellery.
  • Place hair up in a high bun, this will make sure your hair doesn’t get caught or pulled during your treatment and this will help with avoiding oil going in to your hair. (If you going out shopping or seeing friends or family after then be aware that your hair could appear oily)

Home Care

  • Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins. Massage aids the removal of toxins from the body and so does water so drinking water after your massage is highly important and recommended to further push your massage benefits.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking for the next 24 hours. Massage aims to detoxify the body and alcohol and smoking are counter-productive as they increase the levels of toxins within the body.
  • Avoid heavy meals.
  • Avoid showering or bathing directly after a treatment for at least 6 – 8 hours as this will allow the essential oils used to penetrate the skin and be absorbed into the system to achieve optimum results. Avoid sauna & steam rooms for the same reason.
  • Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight, and sun beds if oily residue is on the skin.
  • Try to stay relax by avoiding physical or mental activity’s.
  • Clients will be given extra time to get undressed and dressed in private.
  • The use of heated massage oil, eye masks and aromatherapy diffuser.
  • Chocolate on Pillow
  • Room heaters with blankets and massage probes (if needed)
  • Uplifting Quote and refreshments waiting for you after.
  • The couch is a 4 motion electric motor which can be lowered to the ground for clients that struggle to hop on and off the couch and is also very comfortable to be lead on for long periods of time.
  • Leave the massage oil in your hair or on your skin for at least 2 hours after you treatment. This will allow your body or hair to exorb all the vitamins and the aromatherapy scents which will continue to aid relaxation.
  • In a money free world a massage a week would be highly recommended for our physical and mental health but this isn’t always affordable or ideal however your can extend the time in-between treatment’s and still receive the same benefits. Try indulging in to a massage once a month or every 6 weeks and see if you feel any different after your 5th massage. This is something I also do personally and absolutely love.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

It is not recommend to have a massage in your first trimester however if you did have a massage, please remember to avoid the abdomen area.

By the second trimester you can indulge yourself  in to a maternity massages.

A maternity massage is different to a regular massage and could potentially cost more. I personally wouldn’t recommend having any other massage apart from a maternity massage when pregnant and this is down to your safety.
A maternity massage therapist are especially trained and hold and different qualification to a masseuse and this basically means that they are able to deliver your massage treatment comfortably with out causing a risk to you or your child.

I am not trained in maternity massage and therefore I do not offer massage to pregnant woman, no matter what trimester.

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. Others can experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

Occasionally, some people can feel emotional and this can be down to personal issues going on around them.

Massage can really help ease emotional tension as well as physical.

Depending on the massage type, back or full body will depend on the clothes you will need to remove for example: A Full Body Massage, you will be asked to remove everything apart from your pants or boxer shorts however how much you take off is completely down to your comfortability.
Some clients will not feel comfortable taking there bra off and will leave it on for the duration of the massage and others wont feel comfortable with there socks off and will keep them on and so on.  (So It’s important you feel comfortable on the couch in whatever you wear)

Also everything is under towels and at no point will your private parts including breasts be exposed. There is however a part in a Full Body Massage wear you will need to turn over and this can sometimes make you feel exposed but I can either help you turn over by quickly lifting the towel above my face and allowing you to turn over and then placing the towel back down over you again or I can leave the room and allow you to turn over in your own time – this will be discussed before we start our treatment.

IMPORTANT: No massage with me will require you to remove your pants or boxer shorts.

In most cases, No however some people who have tight or inflamed tissue may experience mild soreness right after their massage and even up to the next day. Some people might also feel slight sensitive in just certain areas, normally areas I have spent more time on.

If you are sore, do not worry. These things are normal and are will pass in time.

Massage can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
