VITAMIN B12 INJECTION AFTERCARE

Thank you for visiting Georgia Rose – Advanced Skin, Laser & Beauty.

Following your Vitamin B12 injection, you may experience some mild tenderness or redness around the injection site. Most people can return to their normal daily activities shortly after treatment.

Please follow the aftercare advice below to help keep the injection site comfortable, understand possible side effects and recognise when to seek further advice.

Use the sections below to find guidance on what to expect, caring for the injection site, possible side effects and future treatments.

Following your Vitamin B12 injection, you may experience:

  • Mild tenderness: The injection site may feel slightly sore or tender for a day or two.

  • Redness or swelling: A small amount of redness or swelling can occur around the injection site.

  • Minor bruising: Some clients may develop a small bruise where the injection was administered.

  • Temporary discomfort: You may notice a slight aching sensation in the surrounding muscle.

  • No noticeable reaction: Many clients experience very little discomfort following their injection.

These reactions are generally mild and should gradually improve over the following days.

Please note: Everyone responds differently to Vitamin B12 injections. Some people may notice changes in symptoms over time when receiving treatment for a diagnosed deficiency, while others may not notice an immediate difference.

Results and treatment responses vary depending on your individual health needs.

Following your Vitamin B12 injection, a few simple steps can help keep the area comfortable.

  • Keep the injection site clean and avoid unnecessarily touching it.

  • Avoid rubbing, scratching or firmly massaging the area if it feels tender.

  • If you experience mild soreness or swelling, apply a clean, cool compress for short periods to help ease discomfort.

  • Gentle movement is generally fine, and most clients can continue their normal daily activities.

  • If the injection site feels uncomfortable, avoid activities that place excessive pressure directly on the area until it settles.

  • Monitor the area over the following days to ensure any redness, swelling or tenderness gradually improves.

There is usually no need for a special skincare routine or dressing following a routine Vitamin B12 injection.

If you have any concerns about the injection site, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Vitamin B12 injections are generally well tolerated, although side effects can occasionally occur.

Possible Side Effects Include:

  • Mild pain, redness or swelling around the injection site.

  • Temporary nausea or an upset stomach.

  • Headache or dizziness.

  • Mild diarrhoea.

  • Skin reactions, including itching or a rash.

Not everyone experiences side effects, and many are mild and temporary.

Allergic Reactions

Although uncommon, Vitamin B12 injections can cause allergic reactions, including serious reactions.

Seek urgent medical advice if you develop an unusual rash, hives or swelling following your injection.

Call 999 immediately if you experience difficulty breathing, swelling of your tongue or throat, fainting or other symptoms of a severe allergic reaction.

If you experience persistent, worsening or unexpected symptoms, please seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Most people experience little or no discomfort following their Vitamin B12 injection. However, please contact me if you have any concerns about your treatment.

  • Persistent or worsening discomfort.

  • Any signs of infection, including spreading redness, discharge or fever.

The frequency of Vitamin B12 injections depends on your individual needs, medical history and the reason for treatment.

Some people require a short course of injections, while others need ongoing treatment for a diagnosed Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Further Appointments

  • Your treatment schedule should follow the recommendations of your prescribing healthcare professional.

  • If you have a diagnosed Vitamin B12 deficiency, your GP may recommend blood tests or further monitoring.

  • Some medical conditions require long-term Vitamin B12 replacement.

  • You should not increase the frequency of injections without appropriate medical advice.

If you haven’t already arranged your next appointment, please get in touch once your next injection is due under your recommended treatment plan.

Please inform me of any changes to your health, medication, allergies or pregnancy status before further treatment.

Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin that helps maintain healthy red blood cells and supports normal nervous system function.

Please Remember:

  • Treatment benefits vary depending on your individual Vitamin B12 levels and medical needs.

  • Improvements in symptoms caused by a deficiency may take several days or weeks to become noticeable.

  • Not everyone will experience a noticeable change following an injection.

  • Always inform me of any previous reactions to Vitamin B12 injections or known allergies, particularly cobalt allergies, before treatment.

  • Continue following any medical advice or monitoring arrangements provided by your GP.

  • If you experience persistent symptoms or are concerned about a possible deficiency, please speak to your GP for appropriate assessment.

Your health and safety are always my priority.
