MICRONEEDLING AFTERCARE
Thank you for visiting Georgia Rose – Advanced Skin, Laser & Beauty.
Microneedling stimulates your skin’s natural repair processes to support improvements in skin texture, fine lines, scarring and overall skin appearance.
Your skin will continue to recover over the coming days and weeks. Please follow the aftercare advice below carefully to support healing, minimise irritation and achieve the best possible results.
Use the sections below to find guidance on what to expect, caring for your skin, what to avoid and when to contact me.
Following microneedling, your skin may experience:
• Redness and warmth, similar to mild sunburn, particularly during the first 24–48 hours.
• Mild swelling, tightness or sensitivity as the skin begins to recover.
• Dryness, roughness or light flaking over the following 2–5 days.
• Small pinpoint marks or minor bruising, depending on the treatment area and depth.
• Temporary increased sensitivity to skincare products and environmental factors.
Most visible redness settles within 1–3 days, although deeper treatments may require longer recovery.
Skin texture may begin to improve over the following weeks, while collagen remodelling continues over several months.
First 24 hours:
• Keep the treated area clean and avoid unnecessary touching.
• Follow the specific cleansing and product instructions I provided during your appointment. Depending on treatment depth and your skin response, you may be advised to delay cleansing until later that day or the following morning.
• Avoid makeup and unnecessary skincare products.
• Do not apply unapproved serums, oils or active ingredients to freshly treated skin.
• Use only the post-treatment products recommended for you.
• Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.
Following 24–48 hours:
• Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser once advised to resume cleansing.
• Pat the skin dry using a clean towel.
• Keep the skin hydrated using the moisturiser recommended during your consultation.
• Continue to avoid irritating skincare until the skin has fully settled.
• Change your pillowcase and keep anything that comes into contact with your face clean.
If I have provided skincare samples or recommended specific products, please use them as directed during your appointment.
If you’re unsure how to use your products or have forgotten the correct order of application, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’ll be happy to guide you through your skincare routine.
Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours, or longer if your skin remains irritated.
• Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, hot baths, saunas and steam rooms for 24–48 hours.
• Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for at least 48 hours and until the skin has recovered.
• Avoid exfoliating scrubs, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs and strong active skincare products for approximately 5–7 days, or longer if the skin remains sensitive.
• Avoid waxing, facial hair removal and other potentially irritating treatments until the skin has fully recovered.
• Avoid picking, scratching or peeling any dry or flaking skin.
• Avoid direct sun exposure, sunbeds and tanning products while your skin is recovering.
• Avoid smoking where possible, as it can negatively affect skin healing.
Do not restart active skincare simply because the recommended waiting period has passed. Your skin should be fully settled first.
Your skin may feel temporarily dry or tight following microneedling. Keeping the skin hydrated and protected is an important part of recovery.
• Use the gentle moisturising products recommended during your appointment.
• Avoid introducing new skincare products while your skin is sensitive.
• Avoid direct sun exposure during the initial healing period.
• Once your skin is ready for sunscreen application, use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily, following the timing advised for your treatment.
• Wear a wide-brimmed hat and seek shade when outdoors.
• Continue daily sun protection between treatments to help reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.
If sunscreen or another product causes significant stinging, stop using it and contact me for advice. Until your skin tolerates sunscreen, rely on strict sun avoidance and physical protection.
Please contact me if:
• Redness or swelling is becoming worse rather than gradually improving.
• Your skin becomes increasingly painful, hot or unusually tender.
• You notice blistering, significant crusting or unexpected skin colour changes.
• You experience unusual breakouts, a rash or a reaction to a recommended product.
• You have concerns about your skin’s recovery.
Seek prompt medical advice if you develop spreading redness, pus, increasing pain or signs of infection. Fever, rapidly worsening swelling or severe symptoms require urgent medical assessment.
If you have a history of cold sores and develop tingling or blisters following treatment, seek prompt advice, as microneedling may trigger a flare-up.

Microneedling works by stimulating the skin’s natural repair processes, and results develop gradually over time.
A course of treatments is often recommended, particularly when addressing acne scarring, fine lines or uneven skin texture.
Further sessions are commonly scheduled approximately 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the treatment depth, your skin concerns and how your skin responds.
Your skin must be fully recovered before another treatment is performed.
Once your initial course is complete, occasional maintenance treatments may be recommended to support your long-term results.
I will advise you on the most suitable treatment plan and intervals during your appointments.
Please inform me of any changes to your health, medication, pregnancy status or skincare routine before further treatment.
Follow the individual aftercare instructions provided during your appointment, as these may vary depending on your treatment depth and skin condition.
• Use only skincare products that have been recommended as suitable for your post-treatment skin.
• Avoid additional skin treatments until your skin has recovered and I have confirmed they are appropriate.
• Results vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.
• Contact me if you are uncertain about any aspect of your recovery.
Following your recommended treatment plan, maintaining a suitable skincare routine and protecting your skin from the sun can help support your results.
